This weekend, one of the most monumental pieces of legislation from this current administration was passed, and has now been sent to the President for signing. This bill was the Healthcare reform! (forgive me for not getting all technical with the name – sarcasm**)
Since the passing of it, I’ve watched numerous news reports, followed social media postings, and in all honesty, is it really worth all of the hostility? People are so getting heated over it; yet, one of the saddest aspects about it is that most who are fighting (FROM BOTH SIDES) haven’t actually even taken the time to thoroughly read it through! The masses are acting as animals that were directed into an illegal animal (dog, rooster, praying mantis, etc.) fight, not even completely knowing what they are fighting so hard for or against.
The biggest disappointment about situation of the bill has nothing to do with anything written inside of it, for the biggest issue should be that we as a nation have regressed to a society that no longer exhibits the capacity to disagree amicably. We have become like “spoiled brat” toddlers in a daycare who fuss and pout about anyone who doesn’t agree with us, saying they can no longer be our friends. It is this type of behavior that is more likely to hurt our society, and less of the issues voted on.
That’s the point in itself though, everything that has passed, was voted on, because we as a country operate in that manner… through voting. If you don’t like the way your representatives vote, vote them OUT next term and if you do, vote for them. I’m not endorsing it one way or another here, only making the point that we, as a nation, really need to learn to move beyond the place of hatred simply because of disagreement.
